The 36-hour hackathon provides a platform to the young, talented and aspiring coders, developers and designers to showcase their inventiveness and creativity. DevJams’19 by DSC VIT is a one-stop destination which brings to you plentiful opportunities to improve your skill set and to build something new and exemplary. As Einstein said, “The only source of knowledge is experience”, DevJams’19 also gives you a chance to work and innovate under the guidance of highly knowledgeable and experienced mentors. Become a part of the most rewarding hack ever to learn something new and dive into the ocean full of opportunities.

There are two phases in this hack:

In the first phase, everyone needs to submit a synopsis of their idea and how they plan to implement it. In the final phase, the shortlisted participants will be invited for the offline hackathon where they would be working on their idea and building a prototype. The event flow will be as follows:

  1. A networking session with the guests where they will be sharing their experiences in various technical domains.

  2. The hackathon.

The hackathon is segmented into three technical review rounds:

Review 1 - A basic prototype of the product.

Review 2 - Present the project-in-progress.

Review 3 - Final developed application.

DevJams'19 will help you understand the importance of Open Source Development with the help of a session on "How to use GIT, GitHub and what is Hacktoberfest". After attending the session, you will be able to contribute to Open Source seamlessly.

Developer Student Clubs VIT, powered by Google Developers, is a non-profit community that aims to inspire young and intelligent minds in the field of technology and provides a platform to learn, develop and innovate. Students here have worked on real-time projects that have solved industry-related problems using different technologies like google cloud computing, blockchain, 3D printing, augmented reality, internet of things and many more. The designers, developers and managers work together and carry out really effective executions and this collaboration helps them to grow in every aspect of life.

What's Hacktoberfest?

Hacktoberfest — brought to you by DigitalOcean in partnership with DEV — is a month-long celebration of open-source software. To qualify for the official limited edition Hacktoberfest shirt, you must register and make four pull requests between October 1-31. No contribution is too small — bug fixes and documentation updates are valid ways of participating. Link to the official Hacktoberfest Website

Enterprise networks are highly secure, but access to outside networks must be highly moderated and restricted. This is mainly done using application-level firewalls; however, the rules for these firewalls are hardcoded and often not up-to-date. Create a dynamic application-level firewall that can detect unwanted/unauthorized connections and form new rules to block them.

Developer Tools

Teams often struggle to measure their success of adoption of Stack Specific practices. Create a tool that quantifies success based on a decent amount of metrics for any tech stack of your choice. Eg: (MERN stack, MEAN stack, GRAND stack etc)

Consumer Protection

Build anything that solves major pain-points faced by consumers in their daily life.

Mobile network coverage varies from place to place; however, assessing quality is a problem for both consumers and the network provider. Create an application that can measure and track the mobile network quality at any location (not necessarily your own location). It's preferable if you have a visualize collected metrics.

Navigating outdoors is easy, thanks to GPS and various map services. However, navigating inside an unfamiliar building can be a major hassle for anyone. Create a system that enables people to navigate from point A to B.
